 The border of a pavingstone pavement is always subjected to freezing and thawing conditions more than the rest of the pavement because water runs off to the border and snow always gets pushed to the edge of the paved area. The GAPPSI® Edge Restraint System® allows the pavingstones to move without damage during expansion and contraction, and permits proper lawn growth along the edge of the paved area. The most common way contractors secure the edge of a pavingstone pavement is by laying cement along the outside of the pavement borders. Unlike the GAPPSI® Edge Restraint System®, cement makes it very difficult for grass to grow and nourish along side the paved area. This creates an eye soar situation and totally defeats the concept of a flexible pavingstone system. |

 A pavingstone pavement is designed to move during frost conditions. This prevents cracking and gives the option of replacing damaged pavingstone without creating a repair job. |

 By cementing the outside border, it makes it difficult to remove a damaged pavingstone and in the long run will be affected by freezing and thawing ground conditions and will not be able to prevent any transversal movement of the pavingstone pavement. The GAPPSI® Edge Restraint System® is clean and will keep your pavingstone project borders look new forever. |
